Yes, I willingly admit to being a fan of the show.:D :p

I got hit by the ice storm and am without power.

If anyone has TiVo-ed or DVR-ed this week's American Idol episodes....let me know. Would love to see 'em.

Thanks!

Dan

p.s. yes, I know they can be streamed online...but I don't have power/internet at home...only here in the shop. :(

I only watch the show to see people make idiots out of themselves during the early rounds. Once they pick their 24 or 36, I stop watching it.

I saw one part, of one episode, with a guy who thinks he sounds like Brian McKnight. It was so awful I couldn't watch AI again after that. Later, I did buy the "Worst Of Seasons 1-4", that's all I've watched.

thx - cpr

Some people really try to sing and want to go somewhere, and I hate seeing the people fail. The first rounds are the worst.

Dan,

I have an .avi of episode 7...aired on 28 Jan. I don't have episode 8 yet but should shortly. Do you still have yahoo messenger? If so, morrowj_98 and I'll transfer it to you. The file is 349 megs.

EDIT: Actually I'm wrong. I do have both episodes from this week.

Hi Dan,

Admittedly, we watch every single episode. We have a DVR, so we always come in 3/4's of the way through and blow right through them.

It's a steady date my wife and I maintain for the Spring. I love the show, with everything we can rail about: the judging personalities, the talents, the not-so talented, etc. It's not all reality, but it's not all fantasy. It's good entertainment.

To really enjoy the experience, the recap the next day by the talented writer Michael Slezak (EW.com), really makes the show worth watching, as he substantiates and validates things that I saw but couldn't put into words. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended? :barf: :barf::barf: Thanks, but I'd rather watch paint dry...

We are fans also. Being the parent of 2 teenaged girls I got sucked into watching the 1st season and BAM....here it is Season 8.
Seems to me that the judges are being "easier" on the less than stellar contestants this year.
I like to start watching about :15 after so I can FF thru the commercials.

You guys crack me up....but only because I'm exactly the same.

Thank heavens for TiVo and DVRs!!!!

Wendy and I have been singing since we were in our teens....from small church choirs to big galas at Arlington Cemetery, and everything inbetween....so, naturally, we enjoy the show......every bit of it....start to finish. I get up on the couch and holler at the TV just like when watching basketball games....:foot:

Some folks may find that bizarre...:o...but if they had the technical singing and musical background we've had...it would make perfect sense. *shrug*

We find the entire show amusing...and in every way. It's entertaining at its most base level, and at the highest too. It's an amazing "spectacle"....not too unlike the Colloseum games of Ancient Rome. It is frustrating and exhilirating. What's not to love about it?

:D

Ok, honestly, I do understand why some folks don't like it...

But not me....in May I'm already looking forward to the next season. :D :p

morrowj_98 = I added you through Live Messenger (I don't have Yahoo) - will that work?

I just need episodes from Tues/Wed (Salt Lake City and Jacksonville).

I managed to get my power back on last night 10 minutes into the show.

Dan

I can't transfer files from Yahoo Messenger to a Windows Messenger. I'm installing Windows Messenger now.

EDIT: Dan, I've got Windows Messenger installed. Please add me again. morrowj_98@live.com

We watched the NYC/Puerto Rico show a nite late. DVR is great.

BTW, Susan and I went to the 'Idols on Tour' show this past Sept. It was really, really fun. Again, good entertainment. And, a good date. :p

Yes. Highly recommended. ;)

I don't have TV, so when I wanna watch something I watch it online. I watched the Kentucky audition one on STC a couple days ago. The only one I've watched in years, and I was dumbfounded. They opened it talking about being threatened by a contestant and continued to build it up through the show. When the guy came out and did "White Lightning", they made fun of him for a bit as usual. Then as he was leaving he said "Be careful", and they accused him of threatening their lives. I felt so bad for the guy. It's Kentucky, we say "Be careful" to everybody. I wanted to reach through the monitor and smack 'em three stooges style.

I'm from CT, and even I got that, too. The poor guy was simply being a Southern Gentleman, and they couldn't figure it out.

dangerouscold: Yeah, it's a knife site, and this is the Community forum with parts of our other lives. ;)

This household subsists on the salaries of professional classical musicians. Initially we didn't watch the show. We aren't interested in popular music. At one point we caught some of the auditions and watched steadily for a few years. This year has been less interesting.

The adjudication and performers just kill us. We've both adjudicated Concerto Competitions, entrance auditions, etc. for the big Conservatories, Music Schools and summer festivals in town and the contrast is hilarious. That most of these people, including the finalists, think they know much about music, performance and the music field just slays us. And the reactions of the rejected---hilarious, grow a backbone and a little outer skin. Reality check?

And the adjudication comments---some of the things we would love to have said!! and other comments, completely different language than we use! We really don't get the standard, it is SO different. Sometimes when they say it is good we just look at each other and:confused::confused:

Agreed....I wonder if the recording mics make it sound different to us than it does to them. *shrug*

I think singing in the shower or car makes some of these knuckleheads actually believe they've 'got it'.

The writer Michael Slezak really helps put it into perspective and hasn't missed any opportunity to slam the producers or the judges for feeding us drivel, when there is obvious talent not being shown, and meltdowns that are.

Standout: Before Danny Gokey finished 'Kiss from a Rose', I was telling my wife we were watching a finalist. My fave so far.

Paula's Devil eyes still make me laugh!

My wife and I will do that with Law and Order marathons.
