any Bama Clay users out there, how does it wear?

Yeah I have the bama clay NMSFNO - it's only got a couple of days of hard use (batoning, chopping), but the coating seems to be holding up pretty well.

In fact, almost too well - the coating feels a lot "stickier" than some coatings on other knives I own, and it seems to impart a LOT more friction when doing things like batoning. It also seems like it's harder to clean - sap and bits of wood really cling to that blade, and they aren't easy to remove. I will see if it smooths out a bit with use and stops being so grabby, but if it doesn't, I very well may strip the blade.

Hopefully this works....
I do love the Bama Clay:D
This mistress is .278" and blows through wood... sure wood sticks to the coating, but the convex blade makes for very little friction. This one out chops my FFBM's, FBMLE, CGFBM, And my cgnmfbm.

Yeah that coating has the goods alright!

I BTS(whole dead tree) out of my NMFBM a few days back. After I used my Stihl CS to cut the tree down, then my logsplitter for a few bigger trunk pieces & then my new NMFBM took care of the rest. Plus some rather tough old redwood(pictured) I had.
I used the NMFBM for about 4 hours, so all in all she come up with the goods IMO :D

how is the feel to bama compared to arctic white?

i know my AW NMSFNO tend to get the same "splinters" stuck in the coating, it also seams like the AW is a little softer then the black crinkel coate.

I have wondered about the AW coating too. I like the look of it, but wonder about durability. I dont mean to hijack this thread, but if anyone has a well used AW coated blade I'd like to see the pics.

Love the Bama Clay coloring but also really like the Muddy coat...

Anyone have a picture of both bama clay and muddy next to each other?

Thanks! (sorry for the hijack...)

I haven't seen BC in person, but it appears a bit redder and has that black speckle to it (making it look in pictures like Corian or something. Wow!) where muddy is just a very even color, like green or tanker-gray.

Bama clay is an interesting finish to be sure. I'd like to see close-ups of that FBM up close to the sweet spot to see how the wear was.
