Any Beckers in between Necker and Campanion?

Hey,

I am new to the world of Becker K&T. It started, for me, with a Becker Necker which I rehandled in maple. A few weeks ago, I purchased an Eskabar (which has micarta slabs drying as I write). I have been hesitant to purchase the Campanion because of its thickness. I owned the ESEE 5 at one point in time, but found it a little unwieldy due to its design and thickness.

Has there ever been a knife, similar to the Campanion in style, that fell in the 4" or 4.5" blade range?

Those of you who have used the BK2 and the ESEE 5 - how do they compare?

Thanks in advance and I will make sure to get some Eskabar pics up eventually

I saw a video where Adam from equip2endure (a huge BK2 fan) had both of them and pointed out that they are very close to each other. (BK2 and ESEE-5)

That thickness is what makes the BK2 so good. Why else would Dave Canterbury call it the "Becker Train Wrecker"?

There are rumblings of some new blades called "tweeners" due out in the next year or two. There are even pictures of the prototypes around here somewhere.

well, there's the BK10 ;) which i think Tooooj indicated there are certain plans for, in stages, in the future...

but the tweeners more so.

The BK2 has a higher grind, the edge is thinner. I find it cuts better. ESEE5 is a quality knife, but the grind starts 1/2 way up/down the height. You may not notice a difference stabbing through metal, using with a baton, or hard use. You will notice a difference when doing smaller tasks.
Check out TOPS, they have lots of knives, many are 1/4" thick. Their Mountain Lion is similar to ESEE5 and BK2, but a bit longer, and has a false edge on top.
Bark River Bravo 1? Fallkniven?

I was really hoping the BK10 ("Crewman", right?) Would be one of the models resurrected by KaBar. It was about the length of the campanion, but only about 3/16" thick, and full-flat-ground, or if not, a high saber grind. Seems like it would fill the much-needed role for Becker that the RC4/6 fits for ESEE users...

A Campnecker would be nice.:D

but seriously folks, I'd buy a Crewman TODAY.
