Any better sheath for Swisstool Spirit?

I've had my Spirit for a couple years, and it is my favorite multi-tool. Unfortunately, after a little past the first year of carrying it, the leather sheath's Velcro closure deteriorated to the point that it's not secure, so I haven't been carrying the tool. I don't understand why Victorinox didn't design the sheath with a snap button closure which, IMO, is far superior. Given the outstanding design and quality of their multis and SAKs, it's rather odd.

Any recommendations on a sheath that fits the Spirit, is comfortable, and has a button closure? I was also considering maybe somehow putting a snap button on my current sheath for it.

I have the same objection to the Velcro. I wonder how hard it would be to install a snap?

I often carry mine in a KSF Adirondack pocket sheath along with a small fixed blade in the second slot.

Manufacturers have to deal with relentless pressure to cut costs, not exempting Victorinox. They seem to have taken the step of cheapening their sheaths. Although I eventually wound up choosing a Super Tool over it, one of the things I liked about the Swisstool was its sturdy, well made nylon sheath with a snap closure. Years later, I bought one for an OH Trekker, same catalogue number, but not the same quality.

Among other things, the now made in Mexico product's button snap was much weaker, and I sometimes find the flap hanging open after I thought it was firmly closed. This is not good in an almost new item. Too bad the earlier one is not available to show the comparison, but I sold it off years ago. It went to a good home with a forum member :) .

Actually, I'm okay with nylon sheaths and velcro closures. Since they are not very expensive, I simply replace the sheaths from time to time as the velcro or material wear out. In my use, they seem to last +/- three years, some longer. That's sustainable.

Have no experience with this pouch, but how about the Nite Ize Tool Holster Stretch? Also, I thought that at one time the SwissTool Spirit's Leather Pouch had a magnetic closure besides the Velcro and Button Snap? Anyway, hope you find what you're looking for.

I posted this once before. I have a couple of these and they are well made. There's a metal insert under the fabric at the opening that keeps it formed to the shape of the tool.

One of these days, I'll find out. Last year, on a notion, I bought a set of snaps to install when the velcro on my current sheaths wears out. Haven't done it yet because the velcro is still good. I can wait ;) .

Just got my Maxped single sheath for my swisstool. I'll have to give it a couple weeks before I know how well it will do, but initial impressions are good. I kinda like the attachment system, as it works with my belt, and maxped bag. It is really hard to comfortably belt carry an MT and wear a shoulder bag, so it has to move around periodically. And removing my belt is annoying. What would be perfect would be the steel clip from the cell phone holsters, but one MOLLE strip wide. We'll see what comes of it though.

check out skinth solutions. a guy over on edc forums makes them. i have the xl for my leatherman mut. its the best sheath system ive found.
