Any Blundstone Footwear fans here?

Anyone here familiar with Blundstone boots from Australia? I've been looking for the perfect "pull-on" boot for a while now and I've heard a lot about "Blunnies". Today I finally tried on a pair, and I was shocked - not at the price tag, but at how poorly they were "finished" (thread ends not snipped, seams crooked, bits of VINYL here and there, etc.)

Are Blundstones really "worth" the asking price? (I'm not really looking for suggestions of an alternative - I already own "Docs", etc. - but I'd really like to hear the opinion of some current Blundstone owners. Do you get value? Are they comfortable? Etc.) TIA!

I find them comfortable, but the prices here in the US are about triple what Australians pay for them - they are basically cheap shoes for kitchen and warehouse workers.

I wouldn't put that kind money into another pair.

I'm wearing blundstones. Been wearing them for the past 4 or 5 years now. They're holding up great and I love them. I picked them up when I was in Hobart, Tasmania. HOWEVER, things seem to have changed over there. Mine have laces and are very nice and comfortable. All the ones I've seen recently are slip ons and don't appear to be as nice. I have no idea what happened over there.

YMMV.

Blunnies are fairly cheap over here (~$70AUS - $40US). They do have a few higher end models including lace-up hiking boots. The elastic sided ones are intended as cheap, mass market work boots.

Steel Blue boots are better quality at the same price point IMO.

Like Ming says, Blunnies are just cheap work boots.

If you want a very good slip on boot you want to get yourself a pair of RM Williams boots. They come in a few slightly different styles and with some you can choose between cow leather and kangaroo leather. I've worn RM's for decades and, for that type of thing, I wouldn't buy anything else. The roo leather ones are a bit lighter and slightly cheaper but roo leather is extremely tough for it's weight. My current pair of daily use boots are roo leather and I like them.

Not cheap though, around $AUS200 $AUS400.

You can see a pair of the original style, my personal favourite, HERE

Thanks everyone; you've confirmed my suspicions. The prices I saw today ranged from Cdn$179. to Cdn$349.

Not a problem. But the "value" just wasn't there. :(

I was just in Taz, Hobart 2 weeks ago and bought a pair of elastic Redback.
Seems to me that they are better made than Blundstone.

I would recommend Justin brand boots. They make alot of different styles. Very comfortable and decent prices.

The RM Williams boots look a bit too "dressy" for what I want (but great site, thanks!).

I really want something that looks and feels like the Blundstones: very pliable leather, casual pull-on, soft sole with fairly small lugs, etc. I already have several boots like that but I thought (from what I've read and heard) the Blundstones would be near the top of the heap in quality (like a Barbour rain jacket). When I finally decided to have a look at a pair yesterday, I was so disappointed. :(

I had a pair Blunnies that I really liked, but then I bought a pair of Redback books. They cost about the same, $140-ish US, but the Redbacks are even more comfortable, and much sturdier. I recommend them.
Oh, and you can now order them from Cabelas, instead of having to go to Redback.com.
