I got a few Buck 110/112's which are great knives but I am not that big of a fan of stainless steel and am looking for a carbon steel version. Is there any knife like the 110/112 with a carbon steel?

Thanks,

Some of the vintage Schrade USA Old Timers don't have a "+" after Schrade on the tang, so they are probably 1095.

The only old Schrade of that style that was carbon (that I'm aware of) was the 7OT.

And not a ton of them. Most were Schrade + stainless (440A), as I understand it.

MooreMaker sells a plastic framed lockback that has the same lines as the 7OT with carbon steel.

There is a busy cottage industry of Buck customization and am pretty certain you could get a Buck 110 or 112 rebladed with a 3rd party carbon steel blade if you wanted to spend the money. I would stick my head into the Buck forum and ask there.

If you're willing to step away from the pure wood and brass lines of the Bucks, I believe the Queen Mountain Man is available in D2, which isn't carbon really. On the edge of stainless.

Utica has 2 lines made with carbon steel and brown or green bone scales. They offer a double lock back.

This one is on the bay now.

Look for semi-custom 110/112 knives with damascus blades (they're not stainless), if you really demand a non-stainless version. Buck has released damascus-bladed versions on a limited basis in the past, and I'm sure some are still out there.

Buck's 420HC stainless, however, is probably one of the best overall balances between edge-taking, edge-holding and ease of sharpening that you'll find. It's basically worry-free and very easy to live with.

That is one NICE buck for sure :)

Really wish Buck's custom shop would start offering the 112 as an option.

That said, I'd actually take their 420HC over the S30V option.

If by "Buck 110/112 type" you just mean a hand-filling lockback, with a clip blade, look at Great Eastern cutlery #42 and #72 pattern.
