So my buddy "won"'a Camillus BK-9 and was asking me some questions about it. Here is what I think I know:
Camillus is the original manufacturer of the bk9. This knife is no longer manufactured by Camillus. Ka-Bar is now making them. The new Ka-Bar variant of the BK9 is made of 1095 cro-van steel @ 0.19 inch thick, while the original and heftier Camillus BK9 is made of 01706 high carbon tool steel @ 0.21 inch thick.
Blade: 9"
Thickness: .210" flat ground
Steel: 0170-6C carbon steel 58-59RC
I of course already own a modern Ka-Bar 9 (can't not own one) but I am unfamiliar with the steel. I look forward to handling both knives and seeing the difference with the extra weight and thickness.
I thought I would ask for any opinions, facts, experiences or other info you all might be able to add. Also, is what I stated above correct?
Of course comparison pics will be posted when he gets it next week.
Thanks.
