Any Cegga axe owners out there?

Hi,

There is a Scandanavian blacksmith by the name of Cegga that crafts some of the most outrageous looking damascus and plain steel axes. They look well made, on par with Lee Reeves or so.

Anyone own or use a Cegga axe that can provide some feedback on their functionality?

(I should have searched first and found out Cegga is a member here!)

Do not own one, but have seen his work and it looks very well made !

He sure does some beautiful work, I love his double bit axes. I have never seen a price on his axes so can't compare that to the Lee Reeves pieces which are also amazing looking. I'd like to own either.

Best regards

Robin

I've had two. I think they are very functional and when you factor in the price they can't be beat. You will be very surprised with his pricing. His communication could be better though. He can be slow getting back to you. However, you won't regret it. I won't even buy a GB now. His prices and work are better!

ndmiller,

Thanks for those comments. He is a bit slow on the communication end, but I would like to get my first little axe from him.

Saying you would rather buy his axe than GB is high praise, IMO.

Geode,

I'd be shocked if you aren't happy. I have two more of his axes coming and I want to order another as soon as I can. Regarding his communication, when you feel like he isn't going to respond, you'll get an email saying the axe is ready. His turn around is extremely fast for custom work. When you contact him just be sure to mention you want to order an axe in the subject line. He may even make one up before you commit so you can see what you are going to get. If you want something different he will just sell it to someone else. Despite the communication gaps he has been a pleasure to deal with and I know he will come through for you.

This is his Hunters Axe and it is beautifully made. I can't comment on performance though as i haven't used it yet.

Thanks ndmiller and Neil. BTW Neil, I am still enjoying that Dozier DKFH.

Hey!!
The spec on that axe are 0,5 kg head and the handle are 380 mm but you can have it in other spec.
And yes I can be bad to answer my mail but I do my best I only do this axes as a hobby maker and sometime it´s just to much work so I have to put all my time to get the axes ready.
Many thanks
Cegga

I have one coming. I must say I like his communication style :):
-I email him
-He responds saying he can make it
-....Wait....
-It's ready to be shipped

I just recieved a Cegga in secondhand trade, and I must say I am VERY impressed. I am pretty sure it is the hunters axe, really closer to a large hatchet. It is a BEAUTIFUL piece of art, I almost hate to use it! (Doesn't stop me, though!)

I'll be ordering more, soon.

Noob question, and I am sure I can find it somewhere on here, but what steel is used for these axes?

He told me it's the same steel as what Gransfors Bruks uses which I understand is L6 or pretty close to that. I could certainly be wrong about that info though :p

I would love to score one of his damascus hatchets someday.

Got to use my Cegga this weekend. I forgot my camera, so no pics but it worked flawlessly. I was very impress with is chopping and splitting capability. Still razor sharp too!

Unable to message Cegga from the link on post #6, privacy settings. Is there another way? E-mail? Love to order one of his axe's.
