I am looking for a bladesmith/blacksmith in the central Florida area, that might be able to give me some instruction. Any help in pointing me in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated.

I have been working on getting my tools and equipment together, but I really could use some help with my forging. Youtube helps, but it only goes so far. :)

I just joined the Florida Artist Blacksmith Association (FABA). I am going to try to make a meeting at the end of this month.

send me a PM and I'll put you in touch with my buddy here in Gainesville. I mostly do stock removal but I use his forge sometimes. He's a member of FABA too.

I live just North of Gainesville and I am also in Faba, they are a great resource. I've been making knives for about a year, but I have been smithing for 5. I work Saturdays, so I never get to go to the meetings. However if you ever wanted to come by I have a working forge, and wouldnt mind giving you some pointers in exchange for some help with a few of my own smithing projects.

I just started looking at this hobby and would love to meet up with someone near the panhandle that I could shadow for a weekend or so and see if this is something I would like to get into. Thank you for any and all help you might have.

Wow I wish I knew about this. I'm just outside ocala in citrus County. Can a stock removal guy join FABA?

I dont see why not, Valknut. We've got our annual conference coming up on Oct 1st at the Ocala Hilton. There are always tools and such for sale, and demonstrators and forging classes, all that fun stuff.
