Any chance of a Matriarch or Waved Matriarch Trainer? Yojimbo Trainer?

Janich's trainers come from Keen Edge Knives and are really good quality at a reasonable price. You can get a similar Yojimbo trainer from Tak Knives in polymer with a thicker edge that's kinder to your training partner as well. These would be great for replicating the feel and size of a Yojimbo in drills, but neither will help if you want to practice accessing, deploying and responding under pressure. For that you need a trainer that folds and opens just like the real thing.

If you are not training for access and deployment under pressure, then either of the trainers above or a similar sized Nok Trainer would be plenty effective.
 
I'ld buy 2 or 3 Yojimbo2 trainers, right now I'm using the BM Griptilian Trainer
 
The problem with selling a trainer for a live blade folder is that the trainer costs just as much to make, if not slightly more.

More because you'll usually substitute a steel, skeletonize the blade to make the weight right, and then assemble it all. And you have a smaller group of people who are going to buy it, so you lose some of the advantage of making the live blade (quantity). Often you also have to swap out the traditional handle color as well for red to signify trainer.

I'm also in the camp that would love a yojimbo trainer (I've bought six live so far... two for myself, two for friends, and two that haven't arrived yet ;) I'd easily buy a pair of the trainers if they come to market.

For it to be profitable for Spyderco to produce a trainer, they need a decent number of folks to step up to the plate and buy it.

Kickstarter campaign for a yojimbo trainer... now there's an idea ;)
