Might there be a PE gunting (redesigned one) with s30v in the near future? I'm dying for a gunting, but i'm holding out for a PE version of the new gunting. am i waiting for nothing or do i have something to look forward to???

There were about 100 made with the PS batch.

If you look hard enough, you can find some. I've got one that I might be willing to get rid of, but she's at a friend's right now.

I've been told by several authorities that there are no plans for another run of PE S30V Guntings.

Hello,
I've owned both the CE and the PE s30v guntings, and unless you've got a hangup w/ CE, there's really not that much of a difference. I do have a hangup, so I kept the PE and sold the CE. Thanks jon for the PE; too bad the decision had to be made about one edge or the other. However, I see the sales point of view. Law enforcement and military love the combo edges, as does the average consumer. Anyway, here's hoping some more PE's are released. It's a well-built knife that does a great job for utility purposes.

Bob7, I have to disagree about likng the CE blades. Sure they look cool but IMHO, they are pain to maintain.

I am very interested in a PE gunting in S30V!! Maybe if we get enough interest in them, there will be another run on them and more of them will be available.

just my $.02

I agree; CE is more of a pain to maintain-sharpen; guess I was talking more about cutting performance and should've been clearer. I talked to a friend today that has a CE one; he said a spydy distributor in Ausin, TX had never even heard of one when the friend showed the store owner the g. That could be a problem, overall, as to getting more PE's. Off topic, but the horn is great for prying w/out damaging the blade tip.

The thing is that I do have a hang up with CE. i used to get only CE but it's limitations started to get to me. i realized that i really don't need serrations so PE was the way to go from then on.

I hope the "powers that be" realize that we want a S30V PE Gunting!

...If you build it, they will come... :D

I agree! I'd buy a PE Gunting in S30V.

As a carpenter, when I use a knife on wood, I often need to use the section of the blade closest to the handle for maximum leverage and control. Trying to put a clean surface on the wood with a CE is next to impossible. I have one of the old Guntings in PE, but I'd LOVE a new one! (I've also go a CE, but when I carry it I usually carry another PE blade for utility use)

I will commit to buying two more PE Guntings with the S30V blade, even if I must order direct from SFO at full retail. I was lucky enough to get one of the few produced, but I have learned over three decades of carrying knives that losses are inevitable, and spares are a wise investment. My preference for knives in general is either SE or PE, as CE has never appealed to me.

The only reason I haven't bought a new Gunting is because I can't get a PE version. I woudn't have traded my 440V PE version if I knew they were not going to make a new PE Gunting.

Isn't there enough support in these forums alone for Sal to take notice? We want PE!!!

Spyderco advertises a PE Gunting on their website and claim to have them on stock. It's advertised with 440V steel.

The 440V version is the "older" version. The newest one is made in S30V and has some upgrades to the lock and scales.

If you can still find a 440V PE in the pipeline, you're lucky. If you can find an S30V PE still in the pipeline, you're REALLY lucky.

who is a spyderco distributor in austin?? i didnt know there was one?

imho the CE gunting, with its short blade simply looks "funky" to me w/a combo edge, not that there is anything wrong w/it.......the combo edge that is lol. why they ever made a CE vs PE is a mystery to me.

My friend didn't say, but I think he said it was a police equipment store. I'll find out and post it.

I think my problem is in a sub 3" blade, there is not enough of either a plain edge or serrated to do the job required. I prefer serrations on larger blades or a fully serrated edge format if plain is unavailable. I do not dislike serrations, its just a plain edge will do 98% of tasks so much better!
