Any chance of a zdp Mille?

I love the Ti Mille and am hunting for one. Recently decided I like the g-10 version too. While looking at Millie sprints I got to wondering; is there any chance of ever seeing a zdp-189 military? I think the Mille with zdp would make for a perfect slicer that would stay sharp forever. But the only zdp spydies come from seki. Think it will ever happen?

If your with me sound off. Sal is pretty awesome maybe he's listening

Yes. The Military is a US knife, and ZDP generally only goes into knives made in Japan.

i may be wrong but i don't think the agreement between hitachi and spyderco-japan prevents spyderco-USA from directly importing zdp 189. or does it?

Hi Realtwitch,

Not likely. Hitachi will ship us any steel they make except ZDP. They prefer that ZDP be heat treated in their trained and authorized heat treaters in Japan. We honor their position.

While this makes me sad I can totally understand and respect the reasoning. But you gotta admit Mr. Glesser it would be very very cool! I guess I'll have to buy a zdp-189/G-10 stretch. I've been dreaming of that one for a while.

The Caly3.5 ZDP is also worth considering. It's an almost magical small/medium knife.

The local shop has one. The owner is a great guy and I spend a lot of time talking knife with him. He carries a 3.5 zdp. I just can't get into it. I don't like it aesthetically. He has a calypso that I've been eyeballing though. I love the swedge
