The more I use my regulator the more I am convinced that it is the absolute best Res C handle we've ever seen. Its comfortable for every task, seems to absorb more shock than the Basic handle and gives you more to hold onto with its length and thickness.

Im sure others feel differently but I would absolutely love to see some reincarnations of classic busse, swamp rat, and scrap yard knives with the regulator handle.

Every time I use my DF or SOD I always think how much more I would love it if it had the Regulator handle. How about some runs of the DF, SOD, Camp Tramp, B 11, Battle Rat etc.. With the Regulator grip? :D

it reminds me (visually) of a reciprene c version of the SAR series handle

The one big difference I see with a lot of the newer models and the basic line is that the tang is notably taller and beefier in the basic handles. The older swamp rat handles had the same basic tang shape and size:

where the current scrap yards have a less-tall rendition:

I think you'd be more likely to see older models coming back via scrap yard then you would from busse, as the only knife ever done by busse with reciprene c that wasn't a basic line was the Taliwhacker, which had the same handle as the swamp rat tang pic shown above. But maybe. Jerry's put out a lot of stuff recently that we never thought he'd put out.

I don't know that I'd like a basic 11 (or 13 ) in the regulator handle more then if it was a basic series handle, but I'd certainly like to try it out.

some more fun stuff from the scrap yard forum:

Reciprene c's worst enemy? Squirrels.

(or raccoons)

If they did the Regulator handle without the front guard I think it would be a winner. Personally I have no use for a front guard, especially on the top. I have bought, and re-sold because I did not like them, all the recent models with a top guard.

I like the regulator. Especially, the le that is satin. The guard is short and doesnt inhibit choking up and the res-c is soft so its comfortable when doing so... Unlike the TG. THe flat grind is also a bonus:thumbup:

I have not held a regulator. I would like to try one out (especially a deregulator style handle with a B-11 length blade. I do like the basic res c handle on my B11, but would love to try a meatier handle.

I have no use for the regulator handle. The basic fits me 10 out of 10. The mudder is 9 out of 10. If we can't have the basic, I hoping for the mudder. Plenty of people like the basic handle and basic series. I know, They no longer have the molds. How hard can it be to replace the molds?

I hope Busse releases some more Res-C in the future this has to be the most comfortable handle material IMO.

The Swamp and SY "beefier Basic" handles are the way to go. :) Those and the Mudders. +1

I need to read the entire post next time...:D

THe regulator is cool but it will have a hard time replacing the basic handle.
