Any chance this is Plumb B.S.A. hatchet ?

Thanks ... a quality hatchet for sure, in good condition...and, a great purchase point.
I'll keep looking (wild caught) for a 20's BSA Plumb. Easy enough to purchase
one at internet retail... but what fun in that ?

on a side note... vintage Boy Scout medal prices are on the rise.

SP...it is a tweener.... kind of rounded over, kind of level.

Hey Drum4fun. If you are looking for the 1920's version of the Plumb BSA in the wild, keep an eye out for the square poll instead of rounded, the letters U.S.A. under the Plumb name, and a fleur-de-lis either above the Plumb name or on the back side. Good luck! I have one, but I think I got it online :0/ . As you said, it's much more fun to find them in the wild. The only Plumb BSA I've picked up in the wild is the 1941-1950 version. They seem to be the most common in my area.

Lando...thanks for the info. I noted the 1922 advert had USA under the Plumb moniker in a rectangle.
Had not noticed the square poll. The hunt continues ! I'm in an area with a largely Mormon history
and a lot of preppers.... but both groups seem to hang on to stuff...or pass to family.

Hey There Charles,

Was hoping you found any more info on this hatchet as I have an extremely similar maybe exact hatchet. 1 pound 4.8 oz though with handle.. no fleur de lis but Plumb stamp in same spot and same hatchet style. I find it strange that a 1 pound 4 oz hatchet wouldn't be a boyscout hatchet.. let me know if you heard any more info, would be appreciated.
Found at a Thrift store...as is... black axe head, pre-epoxy, no take-up
screw, remnants of red paint remain on entire handle. No B.S.A.
logo visible. Gave $7. Thanks .

It's the same tool regardless, they just weren't all sold as an official BSA hatchet with the logo.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of them weren't BSA marked.
Theres nothing that says a scout / camp style hatchet has to be an official BSA item.
