Any Chance?

Any chance Spyderco will ever use SG2 in a Seki City knife? I'm very interested in it, since SuperBlue is probably my favorite steel.

There was a plan for a smurf blue g10 delica in super gold but the cost of the steel made it too expensive if I recall correctly. The g10 delica is still on the cards though, it'll just have a different steel.

I don't know if it shares similarities with Aogami Super Blue, since SG2 is a stainless I think...
But yeah, I do vaguely remember some discussion of SG2 also around the time HAP40 was also being discussed as a Sprint possibility... and yeah I think SG2 ended up being very expensive and/or hard to attain... then I don't remember any further discussion.

Do a quick thread dig search over on Spyderco forum from the past year or two.

If it's a Japanese steel, is available, and there's sufficient interest shown, then there's always a chance.

Here is a quote from Sal on the subject

As mentioned, sales are often the decider in continued production. We're working on a G-10 Endura and Delica in blue that was planned for SG-2, but the cost and minimum quantity required for SG-2 blows it out of the market. Now we're discussing an alternate steel for the G-10 versions.
