Any chance of getting a sprint run of endura with maxamet blade steel?

Usually I would talk about the whole Japan won't use American steels thing but there has been some changes to that recently. I can't imagine they would be happy about working with Maxamet though. :) I have learned to rule nothing out when it comes to Spyderco. I lost track of the times they have surprised me over the years. Sal is as bad as a steel junky as any of us. I'm getting the impression that Eric likes very high performance stuff as well.

I'd also like to see them do a FRN Karambit with Emerson wave and Spydie opener.

Hi Ron,

In reality, it's a very slim chance. One of oour Japanese makers is pleasing us and using imported steels. They using Crucible and Bohler steels right now, and they have their time with it. Each foundry is different and details about mfg that you might not even consider are different from to another.

Maxamet is "a whole 'nuther animal". It's tough sh*t tp turn into a blade. Our Golden factory manager and out Taichung manager were joking about what a PITA it is to produce. (They are currently the only makers using it). Much more difficult than most of our users realize.

M390 or K390 in a Delica and Endura would be just fine by me (well, I'll let you know about the K390 when my Urban arrives next week).

will other knives get made in maxamet? there is this thread that has a comment that Eric said there might be more http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1471652-Maxamet-PM2-Let-s-get-this-done!!!

give me anything that can have maxamet and be able to change the scales to carbon fiber (or just make a carbon fiber version of it), i can wait a year for it.

Hi Mo,

It will most likely be Golden made models that get a Max version. We've learned how to process the steel. A real PITA, but we an do it.
