I am looking for a source for some Nitric acid(HNO3) and some Hydrochloric acid (HCL) to do some etching.
You can e mail me at PROFLY001@aol.com
Does anyone have a source?

Thanks

Bobby

I usually get my hydrochloric from swimming pool supply companies (maybe called muriatic). It's cheap and convenient that way. Nitric acid is a pain to ship so I just use the phone book and find the nearest chemical supply company. In small quantities I wouldn't try to do it via the net.

Home Depot or Lowe's has muriatic acid as well as swimming pool supply companies. You may also have some luck at your local hardware store. I have also used the etchant stuff that Radio Shack sells to etch circuit boards.

No. Nitric acid would be very severe.

Plain HCL ("Muriatic" acid at better pool supply houses) would suffice as would the above mentioned etchant (Ferric Chloride)found at Radio Shack.

One might try 10% Acetic acid too. AKA - Pickling Vinegar

HNO3 is a little too strong to etch, but because it's the basis of most expolisves (TNT, Nitroglycerin, Nitrocellulosis, even C4), it won't be easy to get pure (powder).

I'd stick too HCl.
