Thinking about a Chinook III. Anyone have one or care to post an opinion and or pics? TIA

The Chinooks are up there with my favorite Spydercos. I was always a bigger fan of the Chinook than the Manix
but both are comparible in tank like toughness. I like the Chinook1 my self but you can't not like the 3 with
the FFG and more slender up swept blade thats found on the 2 as well, just with a different grind.

They are defo. great knives. I doubt any one would be displeased with a knife like those so i say go for it :)

I love carrying my Chinook III, it's a nice hefty beast of a folder, but I have to admit it mine doesn't really see as much utility use as I'd like due to the rather thick blade grind. I wonder if the edge on the hollow ground Chinook II is any thinner?

I guess its going on two years ago, I purchased my first 2 spydies. Original Manix and a Chinook lll. The manix is in the safe. Love the chinook..sabre grip , reverse, edge, edge up...I can flip it open super fast...fits my hand perfectly... great knife.

Don't have a III. Had a II and currently have a I. Like others have already said, the Chinook locks up solid. Makes a great thwack sound when the lock engaged. Cuts very nicely. If you don't mind the weight and size, it makes a very nice EDC.

I read a review here that showed how strong the Chinook III tip was, and that finally sold me. When it arrived, it went right into my pocket, rotating with my Sebenzas and my Military. I also picked up another one for the shelf just in case. GREAT heavy duty knife. I do tend to carry the Military more in light weight summer clothes, but the Chinook is close at hand and always an option.

I bet anyone who picks one up, and isn't happy with it, can get their money back reselling it. They are in demand.

The 3 can be had at ridiculously low prices, I paid 115$ for mine. But to me it does not even come close to the large Manix.

I never really warmed up to the Chinook's trailing point, thus I havent bought one. Although I like that its very solid and hefty.

Here ya go:

I have a II which I almost traded off a day or so ago and then changed my mind when I got it out of the safe...

Its a big ol' pocket knife make no mistake. Heavy too, with the stainless steel liners. I see it as more of a country boy's knife than a city slicker.

Possibly not the most practical blade shape in the world, but then it was designed as a fighting knife by Jim Keating and I dont think he made any bones about that.

It fits very well in the hand though. Nice handle ergos!
