My first custom ever was a really sweet pearl/multi-bar damascus bladed DA Dake, man how I wish I had held onto that one, but I have since bought 2 others and plan on keeping them. Not many makers make a high-end, large double action auto, and even fewer do it with such style.
I really like his designs, classic. somewhat agressive, often you can get them with large 4" fighter blades, top of the line materials, and meticulous workmanship, and in my opinion, the nicest filework ever. Also, his wife is a mastersmith and some of his knives feature forged damascus blades/bolsters by her.
If you think about it, high-end collectors gladly shell out $3.000+ for lockbacks from some of the better makers, with Dake, the quality is at that level, but you get a 4" blade, and a way cool double action auto with a semi-hidden release button, disguised as a flush damascus escucheon.
In any case, I think even at $1800 or so, you get a lot for your $$$.
Anyway, here are 2 of mine, I hope to add a few more before I die.
