I'm on a roll with chef's knives right now. A maker is going to make two knives, one for me and one for himself. They will be 1095, with maybe 10" blades, 1/8" thick stock. I want to do a Japanese style heat treat. The maker will send the knives to me un-treated, I'll coat them in clay, but I can only heat up to about a 4" blade. So, I need someone who is willing and able to bring the steel to critical and oil quench it, then triple temper. Anyone? Payment will be minimal, of course.
The knives are going to be SWEET, and I'm going to finish mine and let the maker finish his, then lots of pics will be posted, etc, so it's a fun project. So, if someone's willing to help out a bit with the heat treat that would be great...?
