Any collaborators want to do HT'ing of 2 blades?

I'm on a roll with chef's knives right now. A maker is going to make two knives, one for me and one for himself. They will be 1095, with maybe 10" blades, 1/8" thick stock. I want to do a Japanese style heat treat. The maker will send the knives to me un-treated, I'll coat them in clay, but I can only heat up to about a 4" blade. So, I need someone who is willing and able to bring the steel to critical and oil quench it, then triple temper. Anyone? Payment will be minimal, of course. ;)

The knives are going to be SWEET, and I'm going to finish mine and let the maker finish his, then lots of pics will be posted, etc, so it's a fun project. So, if someone's willing to help out a bit with the heat treat that would be great...?
 
Hey, you know where I live. I can help you out if you want, might be easy since you are only 35 miles away. I usually HT with my molten salts and I don't know how/if that works with clay. If that doesn't work we can do it the old school way in my forge. I just can't garuntee exact temperatures.

Let me know if it sounds good, the charge will be minimal. Well if you count zero as minimal... ;)
 
Email sent... check it out. I have another project I need a little heat work done on, too, and while I'm down there let's make a couple of Ti-handled framelocks while we're at it. :D
 
Sweet, lets do it! I got your email and anytime works for me except for friday nights and saturdays when I have my kid. But other than that I am pretty much open. Let me know what a good time for you will be.

Just a word of warning that my shop and house is a mess. I need to save all my attention to detail for my knives. :D But hey, i am single so I like to use my kitchen as an extention of my workshop.

I am going to start my first folder tonight. Just a prototype to see if I can figure it out from Ray Rogers tutorial. I already have the titanium and should have enough 0.050 6-4 to do a couple liner locks.

I'll swing down once you get all the details on the folders worked out! :D Hell, just make a couple for me and I'll pick 'em up. Still free, right? :D
