Any comments on Benchmade Mini AFCK II or large AFCK II?

The topic says it all. How does the AFCK II in general compare to the older AFCK. I am particularly looking at the Mini AFCK II. How does the oval compare to the round opening hole? How's the out of the box sharpness these days, from BM knives in general? How's the overall fit and finish of these liner locking BM folders? Thanks,

Wouter

RE: AFCK. Mr. Blonde (that probably does not narrow the field much in your country), I have owned the AFCK in M2 and it was VERY sharp out of the box. I shaved tiny pieces of calloused skin off of my fingers with no effort and could see through them like wax paper. Nice solid locking, with the titanium liner hitting at mid-with of the blade.

Noticed that the liner bevel angle made the liner flush with the base of the blade - that is a nice detail.

I have a Griptilian with a more exaggerated oval opening hole and it works fine. Recommend you get the AFCKII or AFCK in M2 steel.

Happy cutting.

I just got a Mini AFCK II and I like it a lot. To me I like the oval just as much if not more than the round.
Mine is 154CM and very sharp out of the box. Fit and finish on this one could not be improved on. It is perfect.
Hope this helps.

i dont like the football shaped holes in the blade, prefer the round ones, but its a personal thing - i think they are made just as well, my AFCK is 1 of my fav's too, have ya thought about getting a AFCK? if ya would, check out www.newgraham.com look under retired benchmades, they have some AFCK's from $65 to $85 - a bud just got one w/the M2 steel blade, and its top notch, a lot of knife for $83 IMHO

Thanks for the information. Actually, I am quite a Spyderholic when it comes to my knife preference. But Spyderco doesn't really offer anything that resembles a G10 handle, tip down folder with a 3 inch blade (excluding the Gunting, which wouldn't fit my intended use). So I have been looking at this Mini AFCK II which, I guess, is the closest thing to a Military Jr, untill Spyderco produces one. Plus, there's a trainer! Please keep other comments coming, if you have them.

The blade comes off centre and the handle flexes somewhat. Many consider these to be minor points.

On the good side, you can have M2 steel, the lock up is first class, they are light weight and tough. I love the ergonomics and blade shape/style.

I don't like the look of the new hole. I prefer the old hole.
