Any comments on new VG-10 Endura?

I examined one of the VG-10 Enduras at a Sport Chalet and have indeed noticed it has gone to a true saber grind (i.e., no more hollow grind). I'm curious if anyone has one already, and do you perceive any difference in it's cutting performance vs. the previous hollow grind? It also appears the tip is now a bit stronger with the new grind.

James,

I forget what that (saber grind) means...is it a flat ground blade of sorts? If so, that would make it quite similar to the G-10 Police blade design. Perhaps a little like an FRN Calypso.

Hi.
The saber grind on the new Endura looks similar to what it always has been, only instead of having a hollow grind, the grind leading to the edge is now a flat grind...similar to the grind on the Sere 2000 or the very oldest Police models.

You can have a saber hollow grind; a saber grind just indicates that the grind, whether flat, hollow, or convex, doesn't go all the way to the spine.

Does anyone have any pictures of the new blades on the Delica and Endura? I was also curious about how this grind change strengthens the tip.

Thanks,
Flinx

The new grind will strengthen the tip, by leaving more metal along the bevels. The tradeoff here was, the new flat sabre grind will almost certainly not cut quite as well, nor be quite as easy to sharpen, as the old hollow grind. But the flat sabre grind will have a stronger point.

I lost my last hollow-ground endura so I can't test head-to-head.
