Any complaints about DLC ?

I have no DLC coated Spydercos. But that may be changing very soon. I just love the look of the Manix2 XL all blacked out. The DLC blade looks so deliciously evil. And the black hardware is a nice touch too.

So any complaints about DLC coated blades ?

The all black DLC PM2 is one of my most carried knives, I've had no problems with the DLC, it's still in great shape after a year and a half of use.

Dlc is probably one of the best coatings out there. It seems to wear away in streaks on the high spots of the blade grind. It doesn't chip away or flake like some of the cheaper coatings.

DLC or diamond like carbon is a very hard coating. However i am not sure how much it matters hiw hard the coating is if it is not attatched well to the blade. So far my Spydercos have a coating that wears in a way that looks good if u ask me.

My black PM2's coating is still in good shape after a fair bit of use. Does have a few marks, which you can't buff out like you could an uncoated blade but imo it just adds character. It does feel a touch different than my Cruwear version during slow opening and closing but the action is still perfect regardless. I have a couple other brands with dlc and my pm2 is definitely done the best. Perfectly even, very thin, durable.

My Manix 2 a while back. Does not look like this any more as I reground it.

It wears and if you use your knife, it will show it.

They look good with a little wear though.

Nice. That knife has seen some action. How long has it been your edc ?

+- 4 years I think as part of my folder rotation. I mainly carry customs these days but the Manix 2 remains a favorite as is my Atlantic Salt, Pacific, Salt1, Military, ParaMilitary and Gayle Bradley. They all are around 4 years old now with good character. Will eventually have to go over to my spare Manix 2 (also the older 154cm hollow grind one) and order the newer version then as a backup.

The only thing that has really scratched DLC for me is sand. Nothing else except small minute scrathes from other tasks. Sand made the most significant scratches on the DLC coating. I was using the Manix2 to dig up roots.

Will grab a picture of it now with the regrind.

My understanding is that dlc does not add to the corrosion resistance of a blade. If that s true, then the black coating is merely cosmetic. If one prefers that look. I prefer the uncoated appearance.
