Its my wifes email server via work. Anyway she can do web acess at home but the problem is that all of the sudden she cannot open her emails at home. She used to be able to now she cannot. She can open her emails from my computer in my office and my laptop at home on our network so there is some setting on our main puter which is not allowing her to open the email. The novell system opens another dialog box to read the email. I was thinking that maybe there is some pop up blocker or something that is stopping her from opening email.

any suggestions??? we are using XP ...

Try checking pop up blockers on the browser(s) and also check the windows firewall settings and make sure they allow access.

Recently microsoft released an update that (big surprise) broke something else. I have had users who are having trouble accessing the web and network shares, etc.

Check taskmgr for verclsid.exe that may be running multiple instances.
If so, end task on them all, then go into windows/system32 and look for the verclsid.exe file. Make sure folder options allow you to view the .exe extensions and rename the file to something like verclsid.old. Worked for me w/out rebooting.

Let me know what transpires.

We use GW at work... According to our helpless desk, Groupwise & Microsoft outlook cannot exist on the same machine. Several of us who use PDAs tried to get outlook installed & it messed up everytime, so much so that our MIS ppl will not even discuss installing it. (When I got my new laptop, I requested that GW NOT be installed, & installed the outlook program that came with my Dell Axium.

GW can be checked online without installing the software. Might be worth checking to see if it is set up that way. I go to http://gw.greatergreenville.com & log on there. NOTE it's "gw" not "www"

Dunno if this will help...

she is checking her email from a web based utility on GW so I am thinking it is some sort of security setting that got changed on our puter...its not pop up blockers..

I find it so frustrating that one minute the dam thing works and the next it doesnt.

It also seems to be blocking yahoo games that open up a applet window play the game but we can get around this by left clicking then choosing open from the menu..what the heck..???

Sounds like the problem is in your web browser settings. Look and see if javascript is enabled. You may have to put the mail website in your safe zone, in the web browser settings, firewall settings, or popup blocker settings.

It smells like a pop-up blocker. But you can try this:
Open explorer_tools_internet options_advanced_click restore defaults.

Hi Ren,
We have uses GroupWise at work for years and I use Outlook Express at home and access GroupWise on the Web with no problem and my pop up blocker is always on. GroupWise on the Web uses Java or HTML depending on which you choose. If she is using HTML then try switching to Java. If she is using Java then first try emptying your Java cache in Java Properties in Control Panel and try it. If that does not work uninstall and reinstall Java. When you uninstall Java you can do it from add/remove programs in Control Panel but afterward you must do a cleanup. Java is scattered to and fro across your hard drive. Go to program files and delete the folder. Run a search for the word Java and delete everything you find. Then run a registry cleaner like Norton WinDoctor or Easy Cleaner for XP which is free. Then reinstall the latest version. If you download it from SUN be advised there are two web pages to download Java from. One is for developers and one is for normal people. Do not use the version for developers. You will be able to tell, just don't be in a hurry. By the way don't forget to empty your browser cache and your two temp folders. The one in your profile under Local Settings and the one in the Windows folder. If you don't see the one in your profile go to Folder Options/View and turn on hidden files. This is all assuming that your Windows is healthy in the first place. If it is hosed you may be looking at a reload. The first step to fixing Windows is a thorough cleanup. Be ruthless. Uninstall anything you are not using. Good luck.
