Any CRKT Kasper/Crawford Dragon Fans Here ??

Got mine about two weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I do have to say that it was the dullest knife I have ever bought. I had to do a serious sharpening job to get it to shaving sharp. This was the first time that has happened to me with CRKT products, and I own about seven of them not counting the Dragon. Having said that I do really like the design.
Wave.

I've been eyeing one of those , I'm just waiting till someone has them on sale.

How good is the sheath ?

I really like the overall design of the knife.

I like the looks of that knife too, but I'm not crazy about it being made in China.

I also saw it last night and right away thought about buying it. Havent seen much on it and I dont know anything about the steel so im going to hold off for now. Still, I love the design and if materials and such are up to par then i'll have to go a buy it.

Eric,

You know my feelings on the Dragon as I showed it to you at Novi. See you picked one up too. Good SD knife that will make a wickedly deep slash.

Hey Mike..

Strangely enough,, I don't remember you showing me that...

Busy day....

It for sure is a pretty cool blade...

Always liked great CRKT designs, always disliked their steel and performance, excluding a few older models.

I recently got the Dragon, and I too love it! Except that I haven't gotten a chance to use it much yet, since my last two Boy Scout campouts haven't allowed any fixed blade knives!!

Hey Guys..

Blackhair...

Yaa that No Fixed Blade rule is Frigging Stupid...

I'm my Scout troop I wanted my Scouts to carry fixed blades...

We had that rule in our troop for awhile,, no blade length limit,,so I sent him with a Cold Steel Voyager X2 I think it's like a 10-11" overall length.. :)

However the Dragon is not really a Woods type knife..

The tip is Very thin,,and can easily broken,,if you rough it too much...

That blades purpose is as a fighter,,and not much more..

Heres a picture of the sheath I make for the Dragon...

This one is set up for both IWB carry as well as a Mercharness

I just through ordering one of these Dragons myself. Looks like it comes with a sheath that will work with my Mercharness too. Now I just have to wait patiently for the UPS guy :) It does look like it will make a good SD knife but I wonder how thick the blade is? Most of the time all any of my knives do is open boxes anyway LOL

I love the looks of the dragon...very seriously considering getting one. On a related CRKT note...does any one have the Dogfish? I was kind of digging that one as well.

i've thought of getting a crawford one but might try the CRKT 1st just for the heck of it, thats really pretty much imho ($60) for a CRKT fixed blade though, it should be fairly nice anyway.

maybe it'll even have a decent sheat, if so that'll be a 1st for CRKT, if not ya can get normark to make ya one,

edited to add i just found one for $44, thats more like it!!

Normark-

That Cold Steel X2 is exactly 13-1/4" long. I also carry it to my Scout functions. ;) We have no rule against fixed blades in my troop, but when we go to other places with other troops they're frowned upon because other leaders sometimes get confrontational about it. The X2 and Vaquero Grande are my loopholes. I only wish I could find a Camillus Gibbs-Maxx 7.0...that's a seven inch folder, D2 blade, titanium handles...Anyways, I digress.

That Dragon looks pretty sweet; I think I'd buy the CRKT before buying the custom one just to see how the design feels.

Somehow, I'm thinking that Mr Crawford's in S30V/G10 would be sooooo much sweeter though. :D

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

Hey Steel Scout...

Yaa it is a Big knife for sure... :)

One thing that I don't tolerate with other Scout Leaders is Badgering my scouts..

If you are confronted by another Scout leader, be polite and tell him to talk with your Scouter...

I've told mt scouts in the past that if they are confronted by another leader about something that otherwise is none of their business to simple have them talk with me.

A good percentage of the time the Scouter either doesn't care or doesn't have the balls to talk with me about it.I've found that a few leaders in our district are real Power Trippers,, they badger kids just because they can...

I don't like other Scouters badgering my boys and have told at least one to take a hike and mind his own business...

However on the other hand I Welcome Scouters telling me if my boys are doing something dangerous or inappropriate...

Be respectful, if your troop allows knives of whatever type, listen to your Scouters and politely direct bothersome leaders to your Scouter in charge.

How would one go about getting a reasonably sharp edge on this thing? The reason I ask is because I have this knife, but it won't sharpen.

Am I a total idiot for buying it?

yeah ya should just send it to me lol.................

ya might have to rebevel it a bit to get it really sharp, or ya could send it to krein for a regrind that would be something else.

i woulnt worry about the steel too much on this one, imho it doesnt matter much for a SD knife since ya really shouldnt use it for but one thing anyway, as long as its something at least border line decent anyway and i imagine its at least that.
