I'm looking at having a custom auto folder designed and made. Can anyone recommend someone to take on this project that works with high quality materials (Ti, ZDP189, Snakewood, etc.).

Thanks!

there are several, but I would recommend two, one is Chuck Gedraitis he goes by striper28 here on Bladeforums, here's his web site http://cgknives.blademakers.com/

And the other is Don Hanson III, (sunfishman) you can do a search on Don here on the forums and find his web address and contact info. Both these guys do fantastic work.

Mike Vagnino makes one of the best autos I have seen in a while.
His are slim, smooth and triple action.
He makes his own steel also.

He is a honorable person also.

As a maker my first question would be what's your budget? That might determine who would be willing to build you a knife.

What materials did you have in mind and how long of a blade?

Your design or mine?

I have only seen ZDP189 on production knives.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Striper: I'm not really limited by a "budget" per se, but obviously the sky isn't the limit. Depending on materials, workmanship, etc. I'd say $750 - $1,750 (quite a disparity I know!), but it would be difficult to put a budget without finalizing the knife details w/ the maker....

Style/Design: I have it pretty fine tuned (mentally) from looking at many designs. In the perfect world, I'd take something like a high end William Henry and make it an auto.

Thanks again to everyone. I'll contact a few of these guys after looking at their sites.

Chuck - I can get you hooked up with some ZDP-189 if you need it.

Bill DeShivs and Bill Vining come to mind immediately. I bought one of Vinings customs and he is quite good. His file work rocks.
