I own Bucks and pre 2004 Schrades and to me they are both great in there own ways, but from what i have been searching for the last couple of weeks is more then the limited few custom handled Schrade lock backs. I know Taylor owns them now but Schrades have a pretty good following. Maybe I have been using the wrong terms in my searches on this and other sites, but I have counted less then a handful of custom Schrade lock backs. If anyone has one please share and I do not mean Uncle Henry staglon. Though nice looking not custom. Maybe the Schrades are perfect as they are, from the older wooden handles to the newer delrin? They are not as old as Buck in the large lock back folders and maybe that is the reason? Maybe they are not worth the time, expense or trouble? Customized Bucks are gorgeous and each has there own fan base and I am just curious by nature. Don't be a hater, just an honest opinion please. Again it could be me not looking long enough or hard enough. Help will be appreciated, critics expected but that is the question.

None of the standard releases of bone Old Timers contained a lockback.

Herman Williams was an employee of Schrade and made some incredible custom bone Old Timer knives. His work sometimes can be found at auction, but I can't say for sure which models he tackled, or of he did any lockbacks at all.

Your best bet is to buy an original Schrade USA delrin example of your desired model and have custom scales installed. I can't recommend anyone in particular, but I know there are experienced knife "modders" here on BF who could handle a project like that.

A bit OT, but here's one you might find of passing interest:

Thanks for the response, I have 6ot's, 7ot's and 120ot's. Just curious about the lack of work done on them. Well my hunt will continue, I plan on using a spare 6ot to try for myself. Not sure it will be easier then the others but that is the one I picked, already have the handles off and am looking for material to try. Probably a pinless bone of some type, I think rams horn would look good without lanyard whole either.
