any difference between the old and new?

I am new to CRK and have my first CRK Sable III on order. I have heard that the older CRK were all edge ground by Chris Reeves himself, while now this is not necessarily true anymore. Because Chris Reeves doesn't do all the edge grinding himself anymore, does this take away anything from the newer model knives? Is the quality any less? Anyone have experience over the years they could share? I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

I dont know the answer to your question, but I have a Shadow III made in 2000. I dont know who did the edge, but when I sharpen it it really makes me look like I know how to put a razor edge on a knife.

You know... I was just thinking of something very similar... I spoke to Bridget at CRK and she said that Chris has resumed some of the grinding since Scott has left. I believe that he is training the new superstud(ette?). About the quality thing... I don't believe the moral of the company has changed since Chris has been doing less of the tooling and grinding. His name is on the knife, and I'm sure that everyone there knows that you cant just put the Chris Reeve logo on just ANY knife. This is a company that has a big name and sells a big knife. I believe that the CRK workplace is a happy one filled with those who truly enjoy what they do. There is a thread somewhere that lists what knives the CRK staff had on them that day... they all have good taste and probably enjoy knives as much as we do. In the HUGE spectrum of knives, there is not much room for tooooo many $300 knifes, much less any $300 "less than acceptable" knives. Gotta run.. hope that is somewhat reassuring for ya!
