I'm comparing some Victorinox SAKs, and I'm having some difficulty in telling the difference between a few models. Maybe somebody can help. I'll give you the model name and model number of the knives that I'm having trouble with...

What's the difference between the Adventurer (53601) and the Centurion (54824) other than the handle color?

Other than replacing the corkscrew with a Phillips screwdriver, the Fieldmaster(53931) and the Huntsman (53201) are the same, right?

i cant see a difference between the adventurer and centurion, but i presume there is one(why would the make the same knife with two names, right?). And ur right about the fieldmaster and huntsman.

smartknives.com is a great resource for SAK critters. You can search by name & by size. The site has helped me out a lot on SAK's. JMO

The number of variations of SAKs is often very confusing. With time you will come to recognize most of the common ones, but there is usually always a few that make you go running for your favorite reference.

To answer your question the Adventurer and the Centurion are both 111mm locking SAKs with the same tool selection. The difference is the lock. The Adventuer uses the slide-lock mounted on the left scale. The centurion is a liner lock. Most of the red handled 111mm seem to use the slide lock while most of the black ones have liner locks. This is not 100% however.

wats the different between the liner and the slide lock (other then the obvious)

With the slide lock, a spring holds the lock against a detent in the base of the blade to prevent closing. With the liner lock, the lock is a piece of metal against the base of the blade that needs to be moved to the side in order to close the blade. Either is very secure. I prefer the slide lock though. Probably more from familiarity than anything else.
