Any double edged serrated folder, black with a clip?

What I'm looking for here is a folder, that I can double for field dressing should I need to pack it in a ways. I want a pointy double edge to make short work of freeing up the anus and I need the serrations to cut through the sternum.

Basically I need a smaller version of the short serrated Ka-Bar that I presently use for field dressing, but in a folder with a clip, probably 3.5-4" for the blade length but not too long as I need it to be stout. I prefer black.

on a more serious note,if you can't find a folder that meets your needs, why not find one that is close and have it modified?would probably be alot easier and quicker that trying to find that needle in the haystack

Guys,

This area for is not the place to carry on the way some of you have and excuses are not valid.

I cut some of the silliness out of this thread and moved it where it belongs.

I apologize for the wording, I am new here and unfamiliar with culture. That term that caused the rukus is exactly how it is discussed in hunting circles and so I didn't anticipate how it would resonate here.

It was pointed out that a double edged folder is a "stupid" idea from a safety standpoint. And it was also pointed out that it might be easier to modify an existing design. I appreciate that.

Firstly let me say that I'm not looking for a full double edged blade. An inch on the back side would be plenty.

In response to modifying an existing folder. My point in asking is that most folder handles are not designed to safely contain a true back edge should such a modification be made.

In any event thank you for your help.

Sog Pentagon Elite, at least the smaller version have the whole blade covered by handels when folded.
Same thing is with all gerber F/A folders, combat, covert and even small minicovert. Futhermore F/A combat model have symetrical grind spearpoint blade.

Could you be more specific as to what you're looking for? Like, price range, blade length, handle material, etc.? Are you looking for a fully serrated folder or a combo edge?

No need to apologize. Looks like we have a few folks who have not had a chance to dress out game and may have had the chance to loosen up a little last night. :)

the Cold Steel Triple Action is a double edged folder, but it doesn't have serrations and doesn't come in black. You can also get double-edged balisongs and otf autos, if there isn't a legal issue with those.

Combo edge, it only takes a few strokes to rip through the sternum and you need a blade for the rest of the field dressing.

The short Ka-Bar blade length is 5 1/4" but that on a fixed blade that's incredibly stout, a little shorter would work maybe close to 4"?

As far as steel with the 1095 on the Ka-Bar I've changed the angle and it works just fine, the 440A is okay too, the Aus-8A seems to have quite a bit better edge retention and that's as good a steel as I figure you need for such an application.

This is a knife that you're going to get bloody often, but at the same time it needs to be extremely durable.

The handle well you don't want it slippery when wet.

Honestly the short serrated Ka-Bar is unreal as a field dressing knife. I know that plenty don't want a back edge when field dressing as without experience you'll cut things you don't want too. But I've done it so many times that with the double edge I'm through it in under five minutes. The only issue with the Ka-Bar is the size for when I'm packing in a ways.

As far as Black, it's just a hunting thing, I don't want anything shiney in the field.

Sorry the opportunity was there and i couldn't leave it be (was overtired),no offence meant.

why not just find a double blade folder that has one blade serratted and one plain edge with the specs and finish you want? It only takes a second to open and close the blade and would also be able to be compact enough to pack away in your gear

The SOG eilte looks good. All the Gerbers that I've handled over the years have too much play for my liking. I'll look at those though and see.

canbkr,
No offense taken, thanks for the input!!!

the 530 is only single-edged, I have one. It's also really slender, might not be the best for slippery conditions.

They're not what I'd call a hunting knife, but the Gerber Applegate-Fairbairns (folders) come is a couple of sizes in that range, and have a false abck edge that is easily sharpened, yet still protected by the handle when folded. My only complaint about them is that they will collapse with a sharp rap on the back edge. Because of that, I'm going to toss mine one of these days. If you want it (with that warning), pm me.
