Hey guys, i want to know your honest opinions. I'm planning on buying these knives and wanna see what you think of them. Any good things or bad things about them and what you use them for. Thanks.

I don't have the roachbelly but i do own the drifter.

I think the drifter is one of THE best EDC blades out there for the cash. I've hard used mine frequently for the past 6 months with no hickups and even tried to break it with a hammer battoning it through a log of wood (stupid i know but wanted to see what it could take to break it). I'm still using the same knife, and it has no play at all. Go get one!

The Drifter is a very solid little knife with a tough blade but fairly low edge retention. Makes it great for hard-use tasks that'll wreck ANY edge because it's easier to sharpen it out. The Roachbelly is a nice li'l knife for the money. The hollow grind is still acceptable for use as a slicer because the stock is thin. The sheath is functional, but nothing to write home about. There are plenty of downsides to them, but there are plenty of downside to ANY knife. I vote them both as solid budget buys.

I use the Roach Belly as kitchen knife. Very good slicer. Use several of the Krupp steel models in kitchen; the steel has discolored over time on all of them, if that matters to ya, depends on what the come into contact with and how quickly you clean them, I guess.

I find the RB grip very so so for hard cutting, shape and size just not optimum, and it's too slick.
Tang only goes halfway into grip.

I wouldn't choose it as a hard use outdoor knife.

For the price the Roach Belly can't be beat! I bought one to use in the field and my wife appropriated it for kitchen use. Cold Steel puts out a very nice line of low cost (but not 'cheap') knives using Krupp steel and molded handles. Their Pendleton Hunter Lite is another similar knife that is great.

Get the Roach Belly and if it just doesn't work for you relegate it to kitchen duty and move on to something else.

The roach belly handle is pretty slick. Probably best in the kitchen. I was going to put it in my EDC bag.
The stainless drifter is very impressive. Smooth. I gave it to my brother and it fell out of his pocket and was lost when he was climbing on the roof. Handle is slick too. Probably best as a poor man's gentleman folder. Get this instead of a Sanrenmu!

Get a G-10 Drifter and you won't have the slick handle problem. :)

I bought a Roach Belly a few years ago as a FB for camping for my girlfriend. I liked it so much I quickly bought one myself. It's a great little slicer for the price. The sheath is basic and the handle is pretty slick, but it's very light, comes razor-sharp, holds and takes an edge reasonably well, is very versatile, and above all, it's a bargain. I really like this knife.

I second this. The G-10 Drifter is a comfortable and capable little creature. Took the clip off of mine though. It just seems more natural to let it disappear into my pocket like my SAK Tinker.
