anyone out there tried drilling holes to install the pocket lip on the left? what kind of scale material was it and how did you do it and how did it turn out?

Seen this post laying around unreponded, so maybe no one's tried it.

I personally have not, but knowing something about shop work, I'd say what's needed it a drill press and a tap and drill combination that matches the machine screws that are used in the folder.

Not sure about working with the knife "live", meaning working on it assembled. Depends upon the knife shape and if it can be clamped securely with padding so as to not mar up the scales.

Another thought is what you are drilling into - Stainless scales; micarta over titanium - the combinations are probably many - this needs to be taken into the equation when planning what tools to use.

I had a local gunsmith do the job for me. He had all the necessary equipment to do it right and I don't. :)

I was very pleased with the results. They look like the factory made them that way.

how much did you pay him to do it

Last year, I had the Machinist Technology instructor at the college that I'm a Supervisor at, drill and tap the other side of one of my REKAT Sifus for me to convert it to "Lefty" carry.

Do you have a college or a Voc/Tech school close-by?...If you do, maybe give 'em a call...:).

I'm a lefty and can't imagine why anyone would want a darn
clip digging into their palm while using a knife. I really
feel sorry for all the right handers of the world when it
comes to pocket clips:D :D
