I have been on the look out for a dual sport for awhile now and finally stumbled upon a Suzuki DRZ400 collecting dust in a garage here in Vegas just before Christmas. it's a 2005 with around 200 miles on it. The battery was dead and the carburetor needed a good cleaning to get it running like new.
It has been taking up most of my spare time, tearing stuff off of it and setting it up for desert riding out here. Been on a few great rides already and it's a lot of fun!
Here are a few pictures as it transformed along the way.

First oil change after getting it running 100% stock

It should stay like this for a wile

Lets see your rides!

DL650/Vstrom here...LOVE IT! It's not as light and nimble as what you have but, at 6'4", I needed a big, bulletproof bike.

Nice bike man I've ridden a few most ktm and honda xr600s I'd say you got a great bike to work with there, I still love my street bikes and I had to get rid of my Harley I bought due to my med condition but I will ride again and dual sports are on top of the list along with a mint condition honda rc51,or Suzuki bking.... But man the area just out side of Vegas I'd have too many toys

Not giving up the 54 Maddman I've been driving it close to 40 years now.
The desert and mountains around Vegas are something else for sure, perfect place to get your head straight from the Vegas bs.

I've got an old Honda NX250. It is completely stock. It is old, heavy, small, and slow, but it does what I want it to do and I enjoy riding it. And what the heck, it's paid for! I really do enjoy riding the dual sports though. Mostly just riding back and forth to work, but I take it for the occasional evening and weekend excursions. And living in Alaska, there aren't many paved roads, so it doesn't make sense to have a bullet bike or a heavy cruiser.

looks fun maybe my reward for weight loss :)

Wow that NX250 is clean! Thanks for posting a picture IJ
You can do it David, that's how I justified it after loosing 40# lol

I went over to a friend of mines and he has 14, yes 14, fully built from the ground up dirt bikes. He just ordered the frame and a dozen other parts for it last week. He is fun to ride with, but I can't keep up with him. Jeremy McGrath and Carmichael is the class he is in.

I have street bike, and an about to pick up a scooter!
Its a Honda Forza 300.

Ya, southernknives I'm not very fast either, more exploring than seeing how fast I can go!

Sweet 250! Used to have a 1963 Honda Scrambler 305 not much power but so much fun!

Do it DAVID drop the pounds and pick up the bike!

Love my DR650

This one takes up a lot of my spare time! 1975 Yamaha DT400.

Nice Circle 10!
That Yamaha looks brand new, takes me back to high school, a good friend had one.

I used to ride and it actually helped pay for college at one point. YZ250 tricked for hare scrambles and enduros mostly. Ran a few KDX200's as want to be dual sports. I could never find a decent combo tire to give me confidence in the paved roads. Ran an XR600 that was great until you got it hot and it stalled. No days they have the magic button so you don't have to hold the compression release and try and crank it simultaneously.

Nice bike. And pretty much the opposite of my 2005 Goldwing and 2009 Road Glide.

Love my XR600. But it gets hot and stalls too. Common problem caused by a little spring on the auto decomp on the cam. When funds allow I am going to put in a Hot cam.

Thanks salvo. The picture below it what it usually looks like. I just love those old 2 stroke enduros!
