I have been stalling and stalling in my scouting, and my 17th birthday is rapidly approaching. As a 1st class scout, i have 1 month to get star or it will be impossible for me to get my eagle. Can anyone give me a list of easier merit badges that i can speed through to meet the deadline? I'm honestly quite desperate.

Thanks in advance all!

It looks like you'll have to hustle. I'm 17 and I got my Eagle 2 years ago :D

Try the Reading badge, it's really easy.
Do you play trumpet? Get the Bugling merit badge in about 30 minutes.
If you can catch 2 fish, get the Fishing badge.
How about Pioneering? Just tie knots.
Woodcarving is easy if you know how to use a knife :D

As an old guy and former Scout I must advise you to "Git er done". Procrastination will haunt you for your entire life. Get a handle on it now. Good luck with getting the Eagle.
Scouting is a fine way to get started in life. You get use to working to get what you need. Smart or rich have got nothing on ambition and persistance when it comes to being successful.

Eagle class of '86. Although I understand your problem, your question doesn't reflect well on the entire purpose of the Eagle rank. Instead of answering your question, I will give you a suggestion: Sit and talk with your Scoutmaster and a merit badge counselor or two. Explain your motivations and map out a plan to get this done. Good Luck and fly high.

sharpguyjp - you can do it, but it's going to take a lot of self-motivation to get it done. It won't be a "do the minimum to get the rank" situation; as Eyegor said, sit down with the necessary folks, and take to heart what the tell you.

I wish you the best, and if I may send a personal admonition your way: take this as a tough lesson in life. Make the most of the time you've got, when you've got it. When the opportunity is gone, you'll have to work a lot harder to get the same chances again, and in the case of attaining the Eagle rank, the chance to achieve it is only there for a seemingly small window of time. I'm not trying to preach here: I'm in the same boat for different reasons - college. :(

Good luck, and keep us posted.

thx - cpr

I'm Eagle class of '98. I thought I was a bad procrastinator, I recieved my Eagle just seven months before I turned 18. Didn't mean alot to me then, but I tell everyone now. Still involved in scouting to this day. Good Luck
