I've had these Ek knives for awhile. Do any of you guys collect them too?

I haven's scanner or photographed mine but I do have a lone Ek knife, made in Effingham, Illinois. Bought it on closeout for $30. :D

Sorry for the scan.
A bit OT, but using a scanner to create knife images can work out well. Bernard Levine has a lengthy topic on that stickied in his sub-forum. The basic trick is the scanner itself; some brands (Espon) have a deeper field of depth for focus, and the all-in-one scanners rarely work. I'll see if the Ek fits on my flatbed...

I don't collect "em but I do carry a sterile Model 5 Combat Bowie with homemade oak scales I made outta a chair leg I found.

My scanner won't operate when the lid is open so I can't even try it that way.

For artistic knife images, no way a scanner can compete with a serious photographer and decent equipment (lighting, camera with focus/exposure control, macro lens...). But for quick-and-dirty forum posts, there's nothing faster, easier, or cheaper than a flatbed. Scans like this take only seconds:

i have 3 ek #3 comando 2th gen #013of100 made for the sof show in 1990
the knifes have the sof logo on the blade one of a kind.
if anyone knows anthing about these knifes please let me know

I have an Ek half grind Effingham made with walnut grips, and brass handguard, still in the box. What would be the ballpark value on this?

I'm not a collector either but I have a WWII Ek #5 Navy with original sheath. Very crudely made knife but it will get the job done.

This is one of the more difficult WWII Ek knives to find especially in good condition with the original sheath.

Nice I have added another since the time of this thread originated. Vintage Virginia, green paracord wrap handle, brass crossguard nib. same scanner.

I've always been rather facinated by Ek knives, particualy the daggers, but despite the fact that I would love to add one to my collection, I just have never actually bought one.

You can speak to/email Bob Buerlein. He is the current President/owner of Ek Knives and an all around great individual. I have known him for a couple of years now and he nevers fails to astound me with his knowledge of Ek Knives both past and present. He was there when John Ek owned the company and he is the one who brought the company back from the edge of failure. (imho) Over the years he has customized all but 2 of my Ek knives. I own a custom Desert Storm mod. 6, custom 1 of 1 model 5, customized model 4 and a standard model 3 warrior and model 6. For the knife guy with SOF Ek Knives, they are commanding in upwards of $300 on the secondary market. If I can be of further help please don't hesitate to ask...and if you do end up contacting Bob...tell him Lee sent you. I try to email/call him every week or so to see what new knives are available. He also has old collectables from time to time for sale if the need/urge strikes any of you.

I only own one; Ek Commando Bowie G-5 with the walnut handle. Nice knife. It was my first "survival knife" 20 years ago. :)
