Any EMTs here using the BM Rescue Hook?

Greetings

My brother is an EMT and I've been considering getting him one of the Benchmade Rescue Hooks for some time. Are there any EMTs on the forums here who have had any experience with these? Are they all that they're cracked up to be?

My brother currently uses a Spyderco Delica with SE for most applications. For removing clothing items they usually use the old fashion standard issue scissors that are supplied to them. Obviously the Rescue Hook is safer at removing clothing and seatbelts than the knife and scissors, but I want to hear from people who have actually used the Rescue Hook in the field.

Thanks guys

I've been carrying one for 3 years and I have used it on numerous occassions to cut the clothing off of accident victims. In less than 10 sec I can have a patients clothes cut from shirt collar to pants cuff. YOu have to make sure you keep it sharp though. I highly recommend it.

I carry one, but have only used it once or twice. Mainly because of habit I keep grabbing my scissors. It does work well though when wearing gloves. If your brother doesn't have one, I'd recommend it - you can't have too much stuff right?

A circular ceramic should do it just fine and then flatted the other side with a fine stone.
