Any existing models to get the KVT treatment? or cost effective KVT?

Ive noticed that a few models Kershaw makes actually started their lives as bearing flippers from the custom makers who designed them. Like the JYD was an IKBS flipper before it became a kershaw. I was just wondering if there were any plans for KVT in existing designs. Also another question would be if there are any plans for a budget minded KVT offering? Say in the sub $200 category?

I would guess not for a while, until it becomes more common place. The way Kershaw has implemented it is still new and rare. Someone would have to go through the older designs and see if there was enough room to use the KVT bearing washers. They would have to redo the machining process for these also. It makes more sense to just start off fresh with a new model.

I agree, they need to put out a very readily available KVT US made budget model. That should be their next project. Make KVT available to everyone.

RE the JYD or even the Groove, It would be cool to see those with KVT; but they are both so smooth already. It seems like a big expense to add KVT for not a vast flipping improvement. They are both at the top of the BP washer flipper game, why change whats almost perfect.

I would love to see Kershaw make a KVT skyline or cryo.

I think the KVT isn't very expensive to produce, seeing that the CRKT aluminum ripple is $30, so I would assume that in the near future some more budget friendly knives will have a ball bearings pivot system.

Thinner KVT so that milling the blade and liners isn't needed would be nice. How thin can you go and still make it all work? 1/16", 1mm? Put it on everything if you can make it thin!

I can't see it working in the Skyline. Bring us a KVT Zing or Groove though! Like how the Cryo is the baby 0560, the Groove can be the baby 0600!

I was talking to one of my best friends who is a machinist and after looking at the IKBS I think we might try to convert a few knives. I have a JYD that might be a test mule.

Honestly I know that something seemingly simple may be a big deal to a large company but I don't think there is any reason that KVT shouldn't be available in anything from the ZT line . Your talking about two washers with bearings not big dollar stuff if the machining isn't an issue. Now I think it would be cool to see KVT in the Kershaw USA made line but I would understand if they kept it exclusive to the ZT stuff

A 3 1/2 in blade ZT KVT flipper linerlock under $150 I can't imagine those would sell

I dont know how thin they could go with KVT and have it still work. The CRKT knives are different. They dont use a thrust bearing. They machine a piece of metal that looks like a break drum from a car and the individual bearings go into it without any type of washer. The bearings just float in there much like IKBS.

Yeah, KVT actually made its debut on a Kershaw so its not limited to just ZT. And im guessing your last statement was heavy on the sarcasm?
