Have any of you Schrade collectors used the Exchange forum on this site? I just tried last night and it seems that unless you're trading more modern tactical folders, nobody's interested. Do you think we could use a "Schrade Trade" section under the Exchange tab?

I might suggest just a posting here that you have something in the trade section would work. I havent spent much time looking there for anything because its been under advertised under used.

Kevin, under the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades forum, there is a "slippie" swap thread sticky, and someone is offering Schrades currently!

I think I was asking for too specific of a trade! (no takers) I opened it up so that I am just offering the knife and asking for trade suggestions. It is posted on both the EXCHANGE section and the GENERAL/TRADITIONAL KNIVES AND FOLDERS/EXCHANGE STICKY forums.

BTW, Waynorth, I really like the slip joint forum. Learning alot, broadening my interest in other makers... Thanks again.

Yeah, it's a nice place to hang out sometimes, Kevin! Lotta good folks. You inspired me to list some slippie swaps too! Check 'em out, and maybe we can deal!

Hell yeah! You've got a couple that peaked my interest. I made a suggestion for a trade on the swap thread. Let me know what you think.

Buck has a "For Sale" heading in this forum why couldn't Schrade? I would like to see a "Schrade" only Trade/Sale category (and I mean the USA made Schrades only prior to July 2004).

Since it costs to have such a thing they made the Buck forum sign up 40 gold members. This forum does not have that many supporters anymore.I wish we could instead of always having to use Ebay.Arnold

I don't want to open up a can of worms; but, it seems like there would be a high potential for problems with members actually trading officially on the forum. If forum members go off-forum to hook up, like they do now, then misunderstandings stay between them and don't necessarily reflect back on the forum. It seems like if its part of the forum, directly or indirectly, then people are going to expect the forum to take a position if a knife is misrepresented or someone gets ripped off. Also, it seems like it could attract the wrong type of seller to the forum looking for a predatory venue. Its kinda like some of the one time posts we see on valuation. Sometimes, interest in valuing a Schrade brings a real good member on board; other times it seems obvious someone is just looking for a free appraisal. Reasonable minds can differ. I'm just playing the devil's advocate, so the speak.

O.K., now I have some experience with the "exchange" forum. I used the swap stickie at the top of the GENERAL/TRADITIONAL KNIVES AND FOLDERS section to list a mint Schrade 293 trapper and successfully traded it with a fellow Blade Forums collector. No muss, no fuss! I just got back from dropping it off at the Post Office.

I would think this situation would happen to many collectors of Schrade knives - you bid on a few examples of the same knife and wind up winning more than you need. So, if it's a really nice/mint example, you trade it with one of the blade forums guys you respect.

I think it's a good idea. I wouldn't trade with someone I wasn't familiar with, but so far it has been my experience that knife collectors tend to be generous/decent guys. I don't know how I slipped by?!
