My apologies if this is not the correct place for this post, but it made sense to me to put it here.
I'm thinking about buying a set of scales for my Benchmade 590 Boost & there only seems to be one dude who does those: Aramis Knives on eBay. Dude's in Russia & at the time of writing this, the time for delivery is estimated to be between March 24 to April 7. Damn long time, but understandable because of Customs & whatnot. I don't even know if that factors in the COVID delay thing or if that would just add to it.
Anyway, what I'm wondering is has anyone purchased handle scales from him? If you have, what has been your impression of them: are they good, just okay, or complete junk? Do you consider them to be an improvement/upgrade versus the standard scales? In other words, would it be worth it to pay approximately $95 USD & wait at least a month for them to arrive from Russia? Lastly, what make & model knife did you purchase them for & are they still on that knife or did you go back to the originals or what?
It doesn't really matter if you bought handle scales for a Benchmade Knife. If you did, all the better, but if you bought scales for a ZT or Spyderco knife I'd still like to hear your response to the questions above.
Taking a look at the Feedback on his ebay user profile, it shows he has 100% positive feedback & from the last 12 months shows 182 positive; 1 neutral & 0 negative feedback reports. He's a top-rated seller, also & been an ebay member for almost 10 years. All of which should make the decision easy, right? I mean, it looks good on paper (or on screen in this case). I just know that the ebay feedback system is weird & fairly limited in scope; from a buyer standpoint it tends towards favoring the seller positively.
I know he used to have a shop on Etsy & even Amazon, but those are both shuttered/gone & only his ebay store remains. One could reasonably assume that his ebay store accounts for the majority of his sales & since they have reasonable fees it makes more sense to use ebay exclusively (especially compared to the way [Sc]Amazon dicks sellers, particularly ones who offer niche/specialty items geared towards a certain portion of the audience within a specific corner of a particular market like he does).
From what I've seen the community here is fair & honest with assessments without being cruel or petty, so I've come to trust the advice given here most of the time. Hence my inquiry. Thank you.
EDIT: I see there is a post from a user in The Exchange which is about tracking, I must have overlooked it the first time I searched the forums before posting this.
