I recently stumbled upon a new Benchmade 720SBT for less than $100. It looks like a nice knife at a good price. I especially like the tip up or tip down option.
Does anyone here have experience with the 720 series? Does that price sound good?

decent price...get it... 720/722 is one of my favorite BM models... I kinda prefer the aluminum handles over the G10, but both are excellent.

I carry Sebenzas when away from the house but around the house I always carry one of my 720s. They are my favorite Benchmade and they are knives I'm not afraid to use hard.

The BM 720 is one of my favorite folders.I would definitely pick it up for a $100.
It is getting hard to Find, and will grow on you very quickly.I have 2, the Alum and the g-10. Really like the "Bowie" Style blade.:):)

The 720 is really the only knife I carry and I have been carrying it for almost 8 years now. Mine has the Al handle. Having keys in the same pocket, it has picked up some scratches. I would definitely recommend that model for its shape, size, and certainly durability.

You have an early model production. As a short while down the line, the tip down carry option was eliminated. I carry mine tip down. But had the blade hollowed ground and the slight upswept tip straightened out. Since then, it can really slice and cut- much more efficiently than its original flat grind. Note- if you do get the knife and decide on tip down carry, know that the thumb stud facing outwards from the body can snag the pants pockets' opening area while on the draw.

Thanks for the info guys. I have sold a few knives recently to get the funds for a more expensive knife. I had planned on buying another Sebenza or William Henry but when I saw the 720, the cheap part of me doesn't want to pass up the good deal.

i was just carrying my 720 that ive had for almost 10 years.its a strong handled knife, very solid & well made.after all these years,i still like it,didnt get sold off like other knives.....

one of the great ( Oh -OK maybe minor) intangebles of the whole user knife deal is individual fit to a particular persons hand. This is where no amount of checking reviews or other people's expereince counts much - how's it work for YOU! In my experience buying and using pocket knives - the Benchmade 720 series is the best manual opening knife I have used.Have a 722 plain edge that I keep going back to - the Ke'shaw speed-safes always seem to lure me back in the long run - but the 720's/722's just fit my hand better than any other manual open knife I have tried.
