Looking for some feedback, love case trappers and would love to give a 154cm model a try.

I picked one up a while back. Can't say a bad thing about it. Very nice fit and finish with nice pulls and half stops. Good knife and a good value.

Im glad to hear that, the last trapper I got (yellow cv model) had some gaps and un even grinds

I must retract my statement; no halfstops on this knife

I've had mine long enough to comment on it.

I love it.

The steel is great. Very well heat treated. The blade shapes are more useful than I'd have imagined, particularly the spey, which I worried would be too long and ungainly. It's neither. The handle ergonomics are near the top of my collection, second best in my folders.

It's much more robust and thick than expected. A real beast, by traditional standards.

The polishing job and the flushness of the springs isn't the greatest, but it's not bad either. The swedge work was also wanting, but I took care of that myself. The nail nicks are uneven and a touch shallow, and needed to be made a bit less sharp.

The pulls are nice, as is the smoothness of travel, after flushing the pivot. My example has no blade play. No half stops, but the blade won't close until you get it back to around 20 degrees from closed, by which point one would presumably have noticed the blade wasn't straight.

It's a solid knife with excellent ergonomics and big, stout, useful blades.

I can't speak to that knife, but I can speak to the 154 family steels (154CM, CPM-154CM, ATS-34, 14-4CrMo). They are a dream. They sharpen really nicely, a lot like a carbon steel on the stones. They take a really keen edge. Reprofiling takes just a little longer than 1095, but not much, and if you have a diamond extra coarse stone to set a new bevel it's a breeze. Really nice cutting steel, plenty tough, stays sharp a while, especially with a strop. For what Case charges for that knife, I think it's probably a great deal. One of the few they release with 154CM that isn't a Bose collab.

Can't speak of the trapper, but Case's 154CM is great. I have 3. In addition, the knives they use it in get a little extra care than normal production.
