Any Experience with Damasteel?

Has anyone had experience with damasteel? From my understanding, it is equal parts high-carbon steel forged with stainless? That leads me to believe the entire blade isn't stainless, however I'm looking for the opinion from someone that's had experience with it. Thanks!

Damasteel is a mixture of RWL-34 and powdered version of 12C27. Both are stainless steels.
