I know it's been covered before, but it wont let me do a search:( I've done four fixed blade kits, each a little better than the last, but it would be nice to have an EDC that I had a hand in. I don't have a certain style in mind. I'm concerned more with the quality of the kit. Can anyone recommend a good kit that would be novice friendly? Thanks for your help.

you are ahead of me. I am trying to do the same thing. Learn on fixed knives and then try some folders Anyway try www.knifekits.com for a nice edc folder. I looked at them and they look to be good quality and reasonable prices
Good luck

Knifekits.com is definately the place to start. There is a forum and some tutorials where you can get all your questions answered.

go for a 605 from kovals, most of the work is allready done, you can choose your own handle material, or choose one of the kits with handle material allready rough cut. Ive built many, with yellow jigged bone, black jigged bone, honey jigged bone, stag, ect

The only thing I would recommed to change in this kit is to make a cutout for the thumb stud. I polish my bolsters, and scales to 400 grit, then polish them both with brasso and jewelers rouge on a buffing wheel. A very nice using knife for the money and time! a real bargain!!!:)
