Any experience with mojo rifle sights?

I turn 40 next month, and the open sights on some of my milsurps are just getting harder and harder to deal with. I have also found that as it is harder to deal with these older sights, my shooting is drifting to the left-would that be paralax?

Anyway, mojos look like a solid alternative, but I have no experience with the things. I was hoping one of you did and could pass on some wisdom. Any wisdom about my drifting to the left would be greatly appreciated as well.

No, not yet, but hear good things over on THR and surplusrifles.com

Mojo's are practically a religion. The SKS one is well-liked in particular; I'd try it.

Unless one of your eyes is ageing faster than the other I can only see a flinch developing to do what you describe . Flinches can do amazing things . I once saw a guy flinch while bidding at an art auction . He ended up buying the Mona Lisa .

I guess it would depend on whether you shot with both eyes open .

John,

I put a Mojo on a nice SAR (AK pattern) I had. Installation was fairly easy, and it left me shooting 1" groups with old mixed surplus ammunition at my sighting-in target at 25 meters.

Another sight with the same idea (though for different weapons) is OneRaggedHole. You can get a sight to replace a Marlin or Winchester rear sight for $35. It'll only take you a screwdriver and about a minute. Also, sights for Rugers and BFRs...Seem like nice folks, too.

Spectre,
With my damaged eye, I can't use scopes as well, and we know what iron is doing to my 50 year old eyes.
What would you suggest? Some red dot? Or one of those strange military sights- I remember a 'reflex' one where you allowed your eye to relax and align the image.

Pistols with both eyes open is about as good as I can do. I'm still OK with rifle, but with a scope the image is doubled, and will probably always be.

There are proabably lots of people here who can outshoot me. Depending on how fast I dodge I guess.

I have found that shooting a traditional bow with both eyes open has helped a great deal with my ability to use a scope . It may just be more practice at shooting . It can be my personal method of allowing my eyes to relax into harmony with what I am looking at .

There are many techniques in archery which could transpose into shooting bang sticks .

munk,

Yeah, some type of red dot or low magnification scope with illuminated reticle should work great for you. The AimPoint is still very pricey, but economical versions from others are around. :)

That works for me! One of the guns I was thinking about getting a sight for is an early 90's Maadi. I've been happy if I could hit "center mass" with the thing at 100yds. The thing's a lot of fun to shoot and I would love to get tighter groups out of it.
