Any experience with shipping to/from UK to US??

I just bought a knife from a UK based seller. 2-3 day shipping from the UK to US was outrageously expensive, so it was shipped via Airsure service through royal mail. It was listed as a hand tool so I hope the knife and customs won't be an issue. Barring any customs issues, does anybody have any ideas about timeframes from there to here?

I must say that collecting custom knives is a great way to exercise one's patience, something I've never been very good at

Just about everything I get shipped the other way around (from US to UK) takes approx 5-7 days. I'm sure it will be pretty similar for yourself.

What did you buy?

The last time I sent a letter with a cheque it took 4 months to arrive. By then I had cancelled it as lost and started using PayPal instead.

Hope you have better luck than I did.

Thx Bowser, I gotta admit, I hope my experience is more like yours and *nothing* like Moff8's

I bought another Obenauf, this one a Thunderforged Twist Damascus Small Model #2 FrameLock. I already have a small M2 framelock, so this will be a nice upgrade to my Obie collection. Incidentally, I will also receive another Obie this week, a mini model 2 liner lock w/cf scales, bringing my Obenauf collection to three! I just can't get enough of mike's ultra smooth, portly bladed Model 2's !!

Just shipped an SMF Strider to England through UPS.

Cost was 79.00 and I spent it to be able to track it. It arrived at the address shipped to in 4 days.

USPS will ship [ non trackable ] to England for about 15.00

Just as an update, I received the knife in 7 days. Shipped airsure via royal mail. Shipped on a monday, received the following monday.

I shipped a knife to the U.K. recently, I believe that it cost around $14 to send. It went via USPS Global Priority on a Friday, it was in the buyer's hands on Monday. Go figure. It would have taken longer then that just to get to Nevada from here.

WOW!! Are you kidding Klesk? That's amazing. You're right it would have taken longer to ship from east to west coast here in the US. Go figure?
