Looking for feedback on this knife. I had the urge to get on quite awhile ago but managed to resist. I am getting the urge again.

Dennis,
I know I emailed you about this one but still wanted to post. It is a hard knife to beat. I have several custom folders, all tactical or at least heavy duty ones, and if I was limited to one only it would be the Boguszewski/Wegner. This has to be one of the best blade shapes in quite a while, and Phil knows how to build it right. The one I have is called the lightweight, but it has dual ti liners instead of one. They produce both and I had both, but know have the one. The one with dual liners. I like the idea of a liner on either side of the blade, just call me old fashioned! At any rate it is really built heavy duty to stand up to hard use. The "problem" I had with mine is being rectified and was caused by me not the design materials, or workmanship of Phil.

All in all I highly recommend it. Bladeart has the single liner version for a great price. Thats www.bladeart.com Larry is a great guy to deal with!

I don't have the custom Boguszewski-Wegner Pro-Hunter but I have the spyderco model.I think its a great knife.I have 3 other Boguszewski folders and their all well made.Boguszewski is one of the few custom makers that started out making folders, not fixed blades.
Check the thread under General about the best folding hunting knife.

Tim Wegner/BladeTech occaisionally has a few of these made. Simonich also made some in talonite. This one is 440v with black micarta(removeable scales) and has a nice BladeTech sheath with the multi-position Tek-Lok system and an optional neck hanger. I believe it was intended to be a dual or all purpose knife. I bought mine primarily for hunting but I would say it leans a little more towards tactical. The pic is poor res but the blade is marked Boguszewski and Tim Wegner Design and serial #2. I like the knife and wouldn't mind having the custom folder version either.

What do you think about the single liner model? Is a single liner with Micarta scales very tough? How will it hold up?

Dennis,
I had the one you are talking about. This is the lightweight hunter. I was aprhensive at first, I wanted double liners or solid titanium, but when it arrived I was pleased. It is light, but handfilling. The Micarta is contoured and is thick at the pivot area to give strength. The single liner is thicker than most liners and gives excellent lockup. I guess this knife was close to the Spydie version in weight but more handfilling with the rounded scales. It is a great peice worth the money. I don't think you would regret buying it!

Ahha, a Christmas gift from Dennis to Dennis, the best kind! Dennis know you will love this one and I suspect it will become your daily carry, or at least see more pocket time than the others. Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And for all to remember

Got it today. Man this knife is the most lightweight knife I have seen for its size. It probably will become my daily carry for awhile. Next on my list is the dual liner version. And then a fixed blade.
