Any experience with this Camillus?

I had an impulse buy at Wally World yesterday, the display said it was a Camillus Prestige. It has a VG-10 blade, a "fileworked" backspacer, and stainless bolsters. With all the extra steel, it's a little heavy for its size, but it doesn't feel unwieldy at all. Fit and finish is actually surprisingly good, it has early lockup and no noticeable blade play. The factory edge isn't the worst I've ever seen, but it's not very good. Here are a few pictures of the knife.

What do you guys think? I'm not expecting much out of this knife, but so far I've been impressed with it for the price.

The pocket clip looks hellish, but the design seems pretty nice. China, Taiwan, or Japan made?

Pocket clip is a definitely longer than it needs to be! It doesn't say anywhere on the knife, but it is made in China.

Camillus went the way of Schrade, they no longer exist except in name, and are best avoided.

Yes. If I recall correctly, all their stuff used to be made in the good old U.S. The employees decided to go union, the company shut down in response. If they are back, they are not selling Made In The U.S. knives anymore. I have on from the good old days, it's the only Camillus I'll own.

Sounds like Camillus has a pretty bad reputation now (at least the new "Camillus"), but I will say that I really like this knife so far. F&F, the action, and the materials are all better than my Spyderco Tenacious and some of my cheaper Kershaws. I definitely don't regret the purchase :) Thanks for sharing your opinions!

VG-10 on a China made knife? I'm kind of suprised.

I saw some of those at a local gander mountain. The package I saw said assembled in china blade made in japan. The one I saw was a good looking knife but for the price they wanted there are much better knives out there, IMO. OP, if you are happy with it for the price use it and be happy, with vg-10 it can't be all that bad, Japan isn't going to let a bad blade out.
