The pendulum. Designed by Chris Carraci. I do not recal him ever mentioning it on the Urban Jungle forum. I saw an ad for it when I happened to be flipping through a gun mag today at the local bookstore.

Seems pretty expensive considering the other blades you could get for this kind of money. Has anyone seen these things first hand. What are your opinions of the usefulness of this design compared to the production knives availible at the same price point or less?

Nah, since using a knife can mean using deadly force, I'd just prefer something actually deadly, like almost any tactical folder. An Endura would have better reach, better penetration if needed, more utility for opening envelopes with the back edge, and look less weird to a jury.

Might be useful for skinning roadkill.

I don't doubt that Chris could make that blade sing, but I'd feel better with something pointy.;)

Initially when I saw it I thought skinning blade too. I think it is knida neat. for $50 or so I would pick one up. For $250 I like my knives just fine thanks. I'll keep that $250 as half of a TNT.

I am assuming most would not fork out the $250 for this piece. I'd rather use the money on a Commander and a Gunting with the rest for training. However, what if you were given one? Would it make it into your daily carry? If so, in what capacity? Would it just sit on a shelf so you can show off your unique little piece designed by Carraci? Would you get give it away because you don't like having blades you will not use (selling it is the same as giving it away, really, because you will most likely never get MSRP for it. I doubt you could even get half). Keep the responses coming please. I thin it is an interesting piece that is not hitting its niche for various reasons.

BTW, I found some older threads about this piece by doing a search for "caracci pendulum" Some like it some hate it, most think it is overpriced. Seems as thought they are handmade to order as well. Turns out there was a review sometime arounf August in Tactical Knives where they reviewed the knife and talked to Chris about it. Kinda interesting. Still have not come across someone who actually owns one, though.

way overpriced and can do nothing my spydie mattriarch/police/BM 710/axis AFCK/AFCK/MT LCC etc etc cant do, and they do it cheaper

kinda neat looking though, but would NEVER spend $250 on it...........

I remember see the Pendullum during the Hawk self defence seminar back in October 2001. It was a little small for my hand, and a bit on the pricey side. During the seminar, CJ Caracci was "talking" to Al mar knives to make a less expensive production version.

Brian Jones, Andy, Hawkchucker; give me a confirm/deny on this discussion. And /or fill in any blanks I made!!!
