Any Fishermen Here?

I do like to fish but I'm not hardcore at all. I hope you'll forgive me posting a little story since it's about filet knives. My dad and I had a running joke for many years; we'd be heading to fish cleaning table to clean our catch and I'd always tell him, "Dang you'll have to do these, I forgot my filet knife." Or sometimes I would say Gee I guess I don't have a filet knife at all. I'd get one for Xmas but always make sure to "forget" it since I don't like cleaning fish! ;):D

I love to fish but I normally prefer a longer blade of around 8-9 inches as I find that a little better for cleaning some salmon. However a 5 1/2 - 6 inch blade does work good for me for cleaning smaller salmon.

John,

How long of a handle are you thinking for this one. I think a 4 1/2” to 4 3/4” would give this knife good balance. A rear hollow tube would be a nice touch as well so if a person wanted to tie it to themselves. That’s what I do when wading. Anyway I look forward to what you come up with

I was thinking 4 3/4”, and I also like lanyard tubes.

I just wish to be back in the old days of catching fish big enough to filet! I'm interested to see how these turn out, maybe an excuse to replace my 30 year old Rapala filet knife?
