I'm debating on buying a knife for EDC, but the blade is 3.67 inches. IIRC, the max length in GA is 3 inches. For those that carry in GA, have any of you gotten in trouble with the cops before if you carried longer than 3 inches? I don't plan on ever taking it out unless it's for self-defense (heaven forbid) or if I'm by myself (not many people around), and I need to open a box or something.

i have never had a problem. I carry a RC-4 and a benchmade Stryker. The RC-4 is a good 4.5 inch blade and the benchmade has over 3 never a problem with cops here is south GA

Any more people care to chime in? I'm around the Atlanta area, so not quite in southern GA. ;)

Problem is if you use it for self-defense then you have used an illegal concealed weapon. Even tho you say it was in self defense the cops will just see it as two bad guys instead of a bad guy and a good guy who was defending himself. How bad a problem this can create depends on the LEO that answers the call and the DA who may decide to make an example out of you.

I would stay withing the letter of the law rather than taking a chance. Having an illegal weapons charge even if it is a misdemeanor can close a lot of doors, especially if you ever want to get a CCW down the road.

Good advice. I guess I'll err on the side of caution and look for a different knife.
